About Clear + Brilliant
What is C+B? How does it work?
The Clear + Brilliant is a fractional laser device that has 2 built in wavelengths to effectively target a wide range of skin concerns from fine lines and wrinkles to pigmentation, acne and acne scarring, texture, tone while also allowing further product penetration- providing even more benefits from the treatment. The C+B works by creating many microscopic treatment zones in the skin to stimulate a controlled injury response. The skin will then promote new collagen and cell turnover, leaving you with clearer, healthier skin. We recommend a series of about 4 treatments every 4-6 weeks to see the best results. This treatment is very versatile, allowing you to treat many areas of the body. The founder, Britney, has personally had her own skin transformation with this laser many years ago. Fun Fact: her results from the Clear + Brilliant are what sparked her passion for this industry! Here at Preferred Laser, we are truly passionate about the amazing things this laser has to offer.

FAQs
The C+B treatment is a minimally invasive treatment that is considered mildly uncomfortable, but tolerable. The sensation can be described as warm, rapid pinpricks. Your treatment provider will apply a topical anesthetic to the area; however, some people choose to opt out of this for personal preference or allergy reasons. In cases where numbing cream is requested to not be applied, the sensation will feel more moderately painful, but still tolerable. It is important to note that even if you have a high pain tolerance, a topical anesthetic is recommended to ensure your treatment provider can give you a full treatment. We have other distracting/helpful devices and mechanisms that can also aid in comfortability.
Yes! This treatment can safely treat all skin types, unlike other fractional lasers that pose a risk of hyperpigmentation, burns, and other adverse effects when used on deeper skin tones.
The number of sessions relies on the severity of the present skin concern. It is recommended to have at least 4 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart to get the best results for the average person. Some people with little to no skin concerns may need less, and some with more severe skin concerns, such as deeper wrinkles or acne scars, may need more. It is also important to note that we are treating these concerns aesthetically and not curing how they develop. If you continue to have excessive sun exposure, you will still see pigmentation develop. However, that’s what maintenance sessions are for! Staying within proper pre and post care, of course. People also schedule maintenance treatments to stay on top of their results, anti-aging, or to maintain overall skin health.
Your laser professional will cleanse the area and apply a topical anesthetic/ numbing cream to the treatment area. Once that is wiped and cleaned, it is time to begin! You will feel pressure from the rollers on the laser as well as warm pinpricks. They will work on the area in sections. Following treatment, a serum will be applied to further enhance the treatment benefits.
Your skin will feel warm and tight immediately after treatment. The heat sensation should subside within a couple hours following treatment. Most of the redness will be gone within the next few days. For the next 3-5 days, your skin will have a rough texture, similar to sandpaper. Be sure to check out the post care instructions for more detailed information on our page.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Being in Texas, we understand that it is sunny most of the year, so when we say sun exposure, we mean longer than about 20-30 minutes WITH sunscreen and other protection on an average UV index. If you have fair skin or are prone to burning quickly this time may be shorter.
- Discontinue use of retinoids, glycolic acid, or other potentially irritating skincare products 2 weeks before treatment. If you are using Epicutis, you can continue the use of your products.
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup.
- Avoid vigorous activity, sweating, or overheating at least 1 hour prior to treatment
- If you have had a history of perioral or genital herpes simplex virus, your provider may have recommended a prophylactic antiviral therapy. Follow the directions for your particular antiviral medication.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 1 week before treatment, if medically safe.
- Be sure to disclose any prompted medical, medication, or lifestyle history truthfully and to the best of your knowledge as non-disclosure can potentially cause adverse effects or reactions, and in some cases permanent damage.
- Expect redness, swelling, itchiness/ dryness for several days
- Keep the treated area clean and moisturized as directed.
- Avoid overheating or applying hot water to the area for at least 48 after treatment.
- Avoid touching or scratching the treated area.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2-4 weeks and use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily once healed. If you are scheduled for multiple sessions or a treatment plan, it is best to avoid excessive sun exposure throughout your treatments.
- Do not use any harsh skincare products until fully healed. If you are using Epicutis, you can continue the use of your products (it is recommended).
- Avoid makeup for at least 1 week if possible.
- Contact us if you notice prolonged irritation or have any concerns about your healing.
